Too Blessed to be Stressed

Too Blessed to be Stressed

This saying caught my eye.

This week I feel incredibly blessed. On Sunday my husband and I celebrated 40 years of marriage. Sometimes my life does seem stressed, and sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but this week I feel just blessed. Period.

Several weeks ago, our daughter informed us that our three children (and two “in law children”) were planning a party for us. Their plans for a party fit our lifestyle and our type of party – a gathering at our lake cabin which has lots of green space, a chance to use the water sports, or lawn games, followed by a barbecue dinner and then perhaps reminiscences by the fire. Who would we like to invite ?

Again looking over the potential guest list was fun. Speculating who would come, and thinking of who we would like to celebrate with. That wasn’t hard. But would people come from 8 hrs away just for a lake party.

Apparently they do. Though the party was not a surprise, most of the guests were. We were blessed to be joined by my two sisters and my husbands two sisters and their spouses, by several friends from a far, and one as far away as the NWT.  Most of our in town guests were able to come as well.

The weather threatened rain… and the party began inside but soon the sun was shining and we were able to dry off the tables, put out the cushions and move the party outside. The weather stayed fine.. not too hot and though some had jackets or sweaters on, I didn’t need mine till early evening.

The food that my daughter and her spouse prepared was unbelievable.  We had more than enough and the leftovers have been great too !!

Life for us over this 40 years has not always been easy,  but God has blessed us with 3 wonderful children who have chosen partners in life that we love; with two beautiful granddaughters; all that we need, though perhaps not all that we “want”, a comfortable home, a great lake property; but especially, a commitment to our marriage that is very strong.

Hey winning two draws totalling $7,000 in the last two months ( one of those on Sunday ) hasn’t hurt either !!

May God bless you too !!
I hope you are feeling too blessed to be stressed.
